Paula J. Giddings Wins Award from Duke University

Congratulations are also in order for Professor Paula J. Giddings for winning the John Hope Franklin Research Center Book Award from Duke University. The book award was established “to recognize a recent work of scholarship that best exemplifies the mission of the research center and champions the importance of archival research” and Giddings won for her compelling book Ida: A Sword Among Lions: Ida B. Wells and the Campaign Against Lynching. Giddings, renowned scholar and professor at Smith College, presents her masterpiece on Ida B. Wells--a crusading journalist and pioneer in the fight against segregation and lynchings.
